Probe: Thesis Show
PROBE Thesis Show 2013 is comprised of 19 undergraduate thesis projects of Doug Jackson’s studio. Each of these projects focuses on challenging the accepted norm and existing practices of the discipline, through means of social engagement, spatial variability, and public spontaneity. These concepts continue throughout the show as we incorporated themes of participation and investigation by inviting individuals to become actively engaged as they guide their own way through the work.
The setup consists of the display board suspended from the existing ceiling structure, models on black bases and extra armatures. These armatures - a magnifying glass, light and iPad using Aurasma - are provided to allow individuals to look closer, search deeper and find additional content. Each student used Aurasma to set “trigger images” in their presentations or models that, when viewed through the iPad, projects extra information onto the triggered surface. The PROBE sign to the left of the touch display triggers each student head shot video, info and project overview.
